Academic Nursing Degree Training Program for MastersTeaching project in English

1. Goals for Training

It aims at training in order to comply with Chinese laws and regulations, gain a thorough understanding of contemporary Chinese politics, economics, culture, and society, as well as a solid foundation in nursing theory and systematic professional knowledge. Students also receive training in cross-disciplinary research methods, independent scientific research, and clinical teaching.

3. Training Method

The postgraduate guidance group is constituted in accordance with the teaching and clinical practice of postgraduates, under the supervision of the supervisor, and its members are individually in charge of their own guiding and assessment responsibilities. Give graduate students’ initiative, excitement, and inventiveness wide rein. Adopt motivational, seminar-style instruction. to increase one’s capacity for independent thought, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to articulate oneself both orally and in writing. to encourage communication among postgraduates and teaching and learning between teachers and students in order to aid in the development of their overall scientific literacy.

 4. Education System

The minimum study period is three years, while the maximum study period is four years. Candidates for early graduation must have completed at least two academic years.

5. Curriculum

Students pursuing a master’s degree in this field must earn at least 30 total credits, which include: 5 credits of required general education coursework, 8 credits of required general education coursework in the field, at least 4 credits of required coursework in research directions, and the remaining credits of elective coursework.

A minimum of two of the required undergraduate courses listed in this programme must be taken by postgraduate students enrolled in multidisciplinary programmes or those enrolled on an equivalent basis. These courses must be passed with a grade of C or better in order for them to be excluded from credit.

6. Mandatory Courses

Literature review, academic lectures, midterm exams, research training, and social practice comprise the five credits’ worth of required components.

6.1 Literature Review

Master’s students should read the required canonical works and significant professional academic periodicals assigned by their discipline and supervisors, and supervisors should be encouraged to schedule regular “reading sessions,” “academic salons,” and “seminars” centered on literary research. The supervisors are urged to schedule recurring “reading sessions,” “academic salons,” and “seminars” that concentrate on literary research. Supervisors are in charge of directing, reviewing, and grading the master’s literature study, and those who meet the criteria will receive one credit.

6.2 Academic Lectures

Master’s students should attend more than ten academic forums, conferences, lectures, etc. Supervisors need to be more vigilant in monitoring and auditing master students’ attendance at lectures and other academic activities because those who do it successfully will receive one credit.

6.3 Midterm Evaluation

In order to confirm the postgraduate students’ specific streams, including master’s degree, further master’s degree, and withdrawal from the programme, the programme is conducted in the first semester of the second year and is subject to a triage and elimination system based on the postgraduate students’ academic and research performance and their professional performance. There will be one credit given.

6.4 Research education

In theory, master’s students should experience fundamental scientific research training and take part in at least one research project under the supervision of their supervisors. The supervisor will evaluate the master’s student’s training in scientific research, and those who pass the evaluation will receive 1 credit.

6.5 Social Practice

The supervisor will make the specific arrangements in accordance with how the graduate students’ subject is coming along while they are working on their dissertations at a later stage. Master students in this discipline should have a specific amount of time to participate in clinical practice and teaching work of undergraduate students. The supervisory teacher must complete the teaching and clinical practice tasks with written comments and assessment outcomes. The practical sessions should last a minimum of three months overall. On the “Assessment Form for Academic Master’s Students Participating in Academic Exchange Activities and Internship Practice of Wuhan University,” the clinical practice activities must be filled out in detail, and a summary report of the internship practice must be presented. The students can enter the defense session and count 1 credit after completing the School examination and submitting to the Cultivation Office of Graduate School for approval and record.

7. Thesis

7.1 Thesis Topic Selection

Postgraduate students should read the literature, comprehend the dynamics and growth of the discipline’s foreword direction, and suggest the topic and design of the dissertation under the supervision of the supervisor. The dissertation ought to be fresh and useful in terms of theory or medical practice.

7.2 Thesis Proposal

The graduate students capacity to manage professional knowledge and research independently, as well as the level of preparation for writing the dissertation, are tested in the opening report. The content comprises justification for the topic selection, its importance, the status and trends of domestic and international research on the subject, and pertinent references. The opening report must be submitted at the very latest by the conclusion of the fourth semester. Organizing a public presentation of the opening report is the responsibility of the training unit. The opening report of the thesis should be attended by no fewer than three teachers, including the supervisor.The official work on data gathering, thematic research, and thesis writing can be done after discussion and permission by the supervisory committee. Postgraduates are required to reopen the topic with the help of their supervisors if they fail the opening report.

7.3 Thesis Writing

The master’s thesis should contain some original ideas or information. One month before to the dissertation defense, the dissertation will be submitted to two dissertation referees after it has been finished and authorized by the supervisory team. Peer experts with the titles of Professor, Associate Professor, or an equivalent are required to assess the manuscripts. Only in the event that the reviewer’s assessment is satisfactory or above will the dissertation be defended.

7.4 Defense Qualification

Master’s degree candidates must satisfy the following requirements in order to qualify for a dissertation defense: satisfy the basic requirements of the university and the School on the innovative achievements of master’s degree candidates (meeting one of them is sufficient, except for the review); complete the mandatory courses; and obtain the corresponding credits. 1. Two academic studies published in Peking University’s core journals or in core journals for the field covered by CSCD or CSSCI 2. One academic research paper published as the first author in a discipline-related SCI-indexed or SSCI-indexed Zone III or Zone IV (excluding tied authors; the same article can only be recognized twice); or one academic research paper published as the tied first author (the first two tied authors are the first two authors; the same article can only be recognized by a maximum of two people) in a discipline-related SCI-indexed or SSCI-indexed II or above.

In order to graduate earlier than scheduled, a student must have completed all required coursework and other training sessions, demonstrated a strong aptitude for innovation, and published at least three academic papers as the first author (without co-authors) in SCI or SSCI Zone 3 or higher in scholarly journals relevant to the discipline. This requirement is subject to the student’s request and the Faculty’s approval.

7.5 Defense

It is finished every year by the end of May or November. Five people make up the thesis defense committee. Only when two-thirds of the members vote in favor will the thesis be approved. The pertinent requirements adhere to the University’s policies regarding the review and defense of master’s degree theses.
