Detailed Rules for the Implementation on Quitting School and Student Status Cancelation

Section 1 General Rules

Article 1 In order to further standardize the international student registration management work, clarify the procedures of international students who drop out of school and cancel the student status, on the basis of the Wuhan University undergraduate student status management implementation details (amendment), Wuhan University international students (undergraduate), student status management approach (revised), and the implementing rules for the graduate student status management, Wuhan University, Wuhan University international students (graduate) training measures for the administration of relevant regulations, combining the reality of international students education work, the detailed rules for the implementation are formulated.

Article 2 International students who drop out of school are divided into two categories: those who drop out for personal reasons and those who drop out.

Article 3 These implementing rules apply to all international students in school.


Section 2 International Students Drop out for Personal Reasons

Article 4 International students drop out of school for personal reasons including personal health reasons, economic reasons, learning difficulties, etc.

Article 5 If international students pursuing a bachelor’s degree apply for withdrawal due to personal reasons, they can download the “Wuhan University International Student (Undergraduate) Withdrawal Application Form” in the official website of School of International Education or receive the “Wuhan University International Student (Undergraduate) Withdrawal Application Form” in School of International Education. After applying for the reason for dropping out of school, and signing the opinion of the teaching secretary of the training college and the Vice Dean in charge of the undergraduate teaching work, the student shall submit it to the Teaching Office in the School of International Education for approval of the deputy director of the teaching work.

The Teaching Office of School of International Education is responsible for notifying the approval results to the international students.

For international students who accept non-degree education and take undergraduate courses, please refer to this section.

Article 6 If the international students who study for a master’s and doctoral degree and apply for leaving school out of personal reasons, they shall download a form in the School of International Education’s official website or go to the Teaching Office in the School of International Education to get the application form for international students (graduate) of Wuhan University of 2 copies. They shall truthfully fill in the personal information and apply for leaving school, then get the signature approval from the training college teachers, teaching secretary, the Vice Dean in charge of teaching from Graduate School, and finally submit it to the Vice Dean in the School of International Education in charge of teaching for approval.

The teaching office of School of International Education is responsible for notifying the approval results to the international students.

For international students who accept non-degree education and take postgraduate courses, please refer to this section for withdrawal.

Article 7 International students who apply for leaving school, after being approved by education, should get the “program list of international students leaving school of Wuhan University” on the official website of education college or in the teaching and research management office of education college.

International students (language students) only need to complete the departure program of international students of Wuhan University.

Article 8 School of International Education shall collect the information of international students who have agreed to drop out and have completed the departure procedures in each semester, and submit it to the school leaders who are in charge of the work of international education, and sign and approve the notice of Wuhan University on the consent of international students to drop out.

Article 9 School of International Education shall report the notification of consent of international students from Wuhan University to the Undergraduate or Graduate School for the record, and shall request the Undergraduate or Graduate School to revise its status in the university’s undergraduate or postgraduate educational administration system.

Article 10 School of International Education shall put on record the notice of Wuhan University on the consent of international students to leave school in the state education administrative department and the exit and entry administration department of the state, and revise the status of students in the educational status management platform of foreign students in China.


Section 3 International Students’ Quitting School

Article 11 International students who are subject to any of the following circumstances which are in conformity with the school status management regulations shall be expelled:

(1) Scholarship students who are disqualified and cannot study at their own expense.

(2) Failing to complete the payment and other registration procedures at the end of the semester without justified reasons.

(3) Failing to apply for the reinstatement of the suspension upon the expiration of the suspension period or failing to be approved despite the application for reinstatement.

(4) International students (undergraduate students) who fail to pass the assessment during the period of study (or the examination) have accumulated 30 credits or more in compulsory courses or have not obtained 28 credits in courses per academic year.

Article 12 School of International Education shall notify international students who meet the requirements for dropping out to accept treatment, and shall report to the office of the dean of the college for treatment after confirmation of international student counselors in charge of international students and related training colleges for the announcement, notice, no result and serious violation of registration regulations, or no study record, or residence permit overdue, or loss of contact.

Article 13 The School of International Education publishes the decision of those who drop out and the list of students through the website, bulletin board and other means. After the public notice period ends and there is no objection from international students involved, the school will report to the President’s meeting for study and decision.

Article 14 The School of International Education shall, in accordance with the decision made by the President’s conference, submit the decision on the handling of international students’ withdrawal of Wuhan University to the school leaders for approval and issuance.

Article 15 The School of International Education shall report the decision of Wuhan University on the disposition of international students to drop out to the undergraduate or graduate school for the record, and shall request the undergraduate or graduate school to revise its status of study status in the university’s undergraduate or postgraduate educational administration system.

Article 16 The School of International Education shall report the decision of Wuhan University on the disposition of international students to drop out to the national education administrative department and the exit and entry administration department for the record, and revise the status of students in the educational status management platform of foreign students in China.

Article 17 These rules shall come into effect from September 2016 and shall be interpreted by School of International Education.
