2. How to get the latest information on Chinese Government Scholarship programs?
Please visit the website https://www.campuschina.org/ for details, and please note the differences between the following two Chinese Government Scholarship programs:
Type A--Bilateral Program;
Type B--Chinese University Program, including High Level Postgraduate Program and Belt & Road Program in Wuhan University (WHU).
Please note that the program categories and agency numbers of these two scholarship programs are totally different.
Applicants can apply directly to WHU for Type B Programs which are only valid for applications for Chinese University Program and the Agency Number of WHU is 10486.
Applicants for Bilateral Program (Type A) shall consult the dispatching authority in the home country for the designated Agency Number.
3. Which program category should I choose in CSC application system? Which one should I apply for?
Program category Type A--Bilateral Program generally refers to scholarship programs by authorities other than Chinese Universities, e.g. Chinese Embassy in your countries. It is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.
Program category Type B--Chinese University Program generally refers to scholarship programs responsible by Chinese universities under Chinese Government Scholarship, such as the High Level Postgraduate Program and Belt and Road program valid in WHU. They are both open to postgraduates.
4. How to apply for the CSC scholarship of Undergraduate Programs/Chinese Language Programs/Non-degree Scholar Programs?
Please apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship--Bilateral Program (Program category Type A). Submit the application materials to the Chinese Embassy in your home country. Applicants should fill in the form with Wuhan University as Target University. For details about application period, please contact the embassy. 5. How to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship--Graduate Student Program in Wuhan University?
There are mainly two approaches:
Type A, Chinese Government Scholarship -- Bilateral Program. Apply directly to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country (usually the local Chinese Embassy or consulate). Submit the application materials to the Chinese Embassy in your home country. Further information can be found on https://www.campuschina.org/ and https://admission.whu.edu.cn/info/1251/1601.htm. Applicants should fill in the form with Wuhan University as Target University. For more details on the application period, please contact the embassy.
Type B, Chinese Government Scholarship--Chinese University program. Apply directly to Wuhan University. Submit an enrollment application for Master’s Degree or Ph.D. Degree Program to Wuhan University for the Chinese Government Scholarship--High Level Postgraduate Program or Belt and Road Program. The application can be made online at CSC and Wuhan University application system.
6. When is the application deadline for Chinese Government Scholarship? And when the scholarship result will be announced?
Usually, applicants for Chinese University Program(WHU) shall submit the application between Nov. 15 – Feb. 25th next year, different program has different deadline. Please visit the website http://admission.whu.edu.cn/ for the latest information every year. The scholarship result will be announced in July by the University.
Applicants for Bilateral Program shall submit the application to the dispatching authorities in their home countries. Please consult the dispatching authorities for more details and application deadline. The scholarship result and Admission document will be forwarded by China Scholarship Council to dispatching authorities for scholarship winners in July and August.
7. If I apply online for Chinese Government Scholarships--High Level Postgraduate Program and Belt & Road Program, what are the matters that I need to pay attention to?
First of all, please register and apply online on the CSC website at http://www.campuschina.org/, fill in the agency No. with the Wuhan University code 10486, the agency name with “Wuhan University”, and choose program category type B which refers to scholarship programs responsible by Chinese universities under Chinese Government Scholarship.
Next, register and apply online on the website of Wuhan University at http://admission.whu.edu.cn/. For the source of funds, please choose CGS(Chinese Government Scholarship) in the application system.
Third, applicants of High Level Postgraduate Program who have obtained the pre-admission notice issued by Wuhan University should submit it with other supplementary documents at Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://www.campuschina.org/) before required date.
8. Do I need to send the hard copies of application documents when apply for Chinese Government Scholarship--Chinese University program?
Applicants do not need to send us hard copies of application documents. Scholarship winners shall bring the originals of application documents when they register in the University. Those who provide a prospective diploma certificate in application must bring the original official graduation certificate for verification when register.
9. What majors are not covered in the Chinese Government Scholarships--High Level Postgraduate Program and Belt & Road Program?
Applicants can not apply for the scholarship to study any majors of foreign languages (such as the applicant’s native language, English, French, etc. ) except for the major of Chinese Language, as well as the master program of Business Administration, and the available majors covered by Belt & Road Program are limited. 10. How do I fill the “Name of Contact Person or Organization in China” in my CSC application form? May I fill it with the information of staff of Wuhan University?
You shall fill in it the information of your relatives or friends in China. If there are none, please fill in it the contact information of your embassy or consulate in China. Note: Emergency contact person in China cannot be filled with the International Student Office or related staff of Wuhan University.
11. I am in the last academic year, and have not yet obtained a degree certificate, what should I do?
Please go to the relevant department of your current university (Department of Education, Graduate school) to get a pre-graduation certificate to prove not only your current student status, but also the expected degree certificate and graduation date.
12. My school diploma and transcripts are neither English nor Chinese, what should I do?
Please translate them into English or Chinese, and notarize them in the notary office.
13. Are there any specific formats and requirements for the Professor's recommendation letter?
There is no specific format. However, it is suggested that the professors recommending you are in the field of your applied major, and sign the letter by themselves. These letters shall indicate the date and describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future potential, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad. 14. Can I apply for a Chinese government scholarship when I am in graduate school?
If you are going to obtain a Master’s degree and wish to apply for a Doctoral Program, of course, you can apply for the scholarship.
15. I applied for a Chinese-taught program, but my Chinese is relatively poor, can I still apply for a Chinese government scholarship in Wuhan University to pursue a postgraduate degree?
Yes. If your current Chinese proficiency meets the requirement of HSK level 4, you can apply for CSC scholarship covering both one-year Chinese study and major study; after reaching the requirement of HSK level 5 you may begin your major study.

A study or research plan is very important for the evaluation which should be written in Chinese or in English (no less than 1000 words/characters for postgraduates).
