(1) Introduction
The Foundation Program offers a carefully designed, multi-dimensional, and diverse curriculum that covers a wide range of disciplines, including Economics, Science and Engineering, and Medicine. The program is aimed at helping international students smoothly transition into undergraduate studies. Students who successfully complete the program and pass the assessments will be eligible to enter the undergraduate programs at Wuhan University.

Listening | Be familiar with high-frequency scenarios for academic listening; consolidate vocabulary, phrases, dialogues, and different phonetics; understand academic theme speech/lecture. |
Speaking | Consolidate self-introduction and daily topics; focus on advanced skills such as expressing viewpoint, making comparison and contrast, future planning, flow description, and sentence structure training; master the writing skill in fluency, coherence and diction in expression; learn to use synonyms to enrich the expression. |
Reading | Get familiar with academic reading vocabulary, at least able to recognize its meaning and its synonym; through intensive reading, understand the logical relationship, structure, paragraph meaning of the article, and master prediction skills; be able to read and understand articles in professional fields, including environmental protection, energy, environment, history, biology, etc. |
Writing | Learn how to describe and analyze charts, tables, flowcharts, and maps in a formal way, and how to organize the structure of an article, such as arguments, evidence, and conclusions; enrich word bank and master sentence patterns for describing changes, trends, and comparisons; be able to use a variety of writing skills to make essay more clear, coherent, and fluent. |

l must be a non-Chinese citizen holding a valid foreign passport
l must be under 24 years of age
l must be in good physical and mental health
(4) Application Process
1. Online Application
Visit http://admission.whu.edu.cn to create an online account.
Select”self-sponsor”- "Pre-university Program" and follow the website instructions to complete personal information and upload required application materials.
2. Submit Application Materials
l A copy of the personal information page of the passport (valid at least until May of your academic year) and, if applicable, the China visa page.
l Proof of English language proficiency (or exemption based on the university's assessment).
l Proof of financial capability or economic guarantor (at least USD 2,500).
l If the applicant has previously studied in China, a recent (within 6 months) certificate of no criminal record is required.
l Physical report within 6 months.
Note: The above materials do not need to be mailed. They should be submitted during the online application process through Wuhan University's registration system.
