Application Guide to International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship for One-Semester Chinese Language Study (2025 Spring)
For the purpose of satisfying the increasing demand of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has set the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.
I. ELIGIBILITY
a) Non-Chinese citizens;
b) Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school;
c) In good physical and mental conditions, and with a good record of academic performance and conduct;
d) Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields;
e) Between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2024). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers should not be over 45.
II. PROGRAMS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Program:Chinese Language
The program commences in February 2025, and provides scholarship of a maximum of five months. Applicants shall have HSK test record, and priority goes to applicants with HSKK test score.
III. SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE AND CRITERIA
The scholarship provides full coverage of tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.

IV. APPLICATION PROCEDURES&APPLICATION DEADLINE
a) Online registration will be available from 10 September, 2024. Please submit application on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship application website (http://cis.chinese.cn) and Wuhan University online application website (http://admission.whu.edu.cn).
b) Deadline for Application (Beijing time):
For programs commencing in February 2025, applicants must complete their applications by 18 October, 2024.
V. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
A. For all applicants:
a) A scanned copy of passport photo page;
b) A scanned copy of score reports of HSK and HSKK tests (within two-year validity);
c) A reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions.
B. In-service Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment and a reference letter from the employer.
C. Applicants under 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
VI. ASSESSMENT AND ADMISSION
Wuhan University will review application documents and organize interviews for applicants. CLEC will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. Decisions will be based on HSK and HSKK levels and scores, geographical distribution, and other factors. The results will be published about three months before the program starts.
VII. POLICIES REGARDING IN-SERVICE CHINESE LANGUAGE TEACHERS AND CHINESE BRIDGE WINNERS
a)In-Service Chinese Language Teachers
In-service Chinese language teachers, providing proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer, will be given admission priority.
b) Chinese Bridge Winners
Applicants who have received the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate during Chinese Bridge competitions may submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to the Host Institutions directly at the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.
