Application Guide for 2024 Student Exchange Programs

In accordance with the student exchange agreements signed with overseas universities or research institutions, Wuhan University (WHU), the party of receiving and accommodating exchange students, will accept application from international students for inter-university exchange programs.

Applicant Qualifications

I. Applicants’ home institutions must have student exchange agreements with WHU, and the agreements must be still in force.

II. Applicants must be full-time degree students registered in the home institution. They should first gain recommendation from the home institution, which will then send the nomination form to WHU.

III. In view of cultural exchange and mutual learning, applicants should, in principle, be foreign students without Chinese nationality.

IV. In addition, applicants should also meet the general application requirements and the admission requirements of the applied major.

Duration of the program

Students exchange programs usually last for one semester or two semesters (one academic year). Usually, the autumn semester commences from September and the spring semester from March.

Application procedures

Step 1: Submit an application to your home institution and gain recommendation and approval of your home institution.

Step 2: The home institution should send the nomination form  to inbound@whu.edu.cn.

Step 3: Follow the online application procedure offered by the Admissions Office at School of International Education of Wuhan University, complete, and submit application in the online system at http://fses-admin.whu.edu.cn/.

Step 4: Wait for the qualification review. If approved, you will receive the admission documents from WHU.

Application dates

The 2024 Spring Semester: October 10 to December 31, 2023

The 2024 Autumn Semester: April 10 to June 15, 2024 (provisional)

Chinese visa

Qualified applicants will receive admission materials from Wuhan University. Please take all the admission documents to Chinese embassies or consulates in your place of residence to apply for the X visa (student visa).

Accommodation

If the student exchange agreement contains clear terms on accommodation, the terms will be followed.

Courses and Credits

The recognition of courses and credits will be made in accordance with the student exchange agreements between the two universities and the curriculum of the school where the applicant is studying.

Other issues

I. Applicants on students exchange programs should first confirm whether their home institutions have signed student exchange agreements with WHU and whether they themselves have gained nomination.

II. The home institution should recommend qualified nominees according to the exchange agreement signed with WHU, and send a formal nomination form to Office of International Affairs, Wuhan University. The home institution shall be responsible for the reliability, accuracy, completeness and validity of the form.

III. Gaining nomination from the home institution does not necessarily equal to admission by WHU. We reserve the right to refuse unqualified nominees according to our own academic assessment.

IV. Due to limited class capacity, applications to some courses may not be successful.
