Sino-American Degree-study Scholarship Program of Wuhan University
In order to attract outstanding American students to study in China, the Ministry of Education of China has set up a Sino-American Degree-study Scholarship Program. The degree-study scholarship provides full funds for full-time American undergraduate, master or doctoral applicants admitted by the designated Chinese universities. As one of the universities to admit the program students, American students are warmly welcomed to apply to study in Wuhan University.
(1). Applicants must be American citizens in good health;
(2). Education background and age limit:
Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25.
Applicants for master degree studies must have a bachelor degree and be under the age of 35.
Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master degree and be under the age of 40.
3. Application for the Degree-study Scholarship
(1) Academic programs
Most programs are taught in Chinese. More information about the Chinese or English medium academic programs is available at our website: http://admission.whu.edu.cn
Applicants applying for the program of languages are not eligible for this scholarship program except Chinese language.

Applicants for Chinese-medium programs are required to take one year of Chinese language courses prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified. Only by passing the required HSK test after the Chinese language course could they start their major studies. Applicants for Chinese-medium undergraduate programs should have HSK level four Certificate and above, or the Certificate of Completion of Chinese language study from the assigned Chinese language training university; for Chinese-medium graduate programs, HSK level five Certificate is required.
(3) Degree-study Scholarship Details
a. Exemption from tuition fee and accommodation on campus;
b. Living allowance;
c. Comprehensive medical insurance;
d. International travel expenses: self-afforded.

(5) Application Procedures
a. Register and submit your online application at the CSC Online Application System for International Students at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn. The code of Wuhan University is 10486. Please Choose Program category type B which refers to scholarship programs responsible by Chinese universities under Chinese Government Scholarship- Sino-American Degree-study Program. Please download and print a hard copy of the “Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship” after you complete the form.
b. Register and submit your online application at Wuhan University Online
Application System for International Students at http://admission.whu.edu.cn, submit online the completed “Application Form for International Scholars and Students of Wuhan University” and required application documents listed below:
Send 2 sets of the necessary documents as below to Wuhan University by express. The application documents should be bound according to the following order.
a. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(written in Chinese or English).
b. Application Form for International Scholars and Students of Wuhan University(written in Chinese or English).
c. Scanned copy of valid ordinary passport with a minimum of one year before its expiration (personal information page).
d. Notarized highest diploma (degree certificate) and transcripts（the original and copy of each one）: to be issued directly by the educational administration office of the school/university, with an official stamp. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove not only your current student status, but also the expected degree certificate and graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English should be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations. High school diploma is required for Bachelor degree program, Bachelor degree diploma is required for master program and Master degree diploma is required for doctoral program.
e. Study Plan, 800 words, written in Chinese or in English（only master or doctoral applicants required）;
f. Two recommendation letters from either professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English（only master or doctoral applicants required）;
g. Photocopy of “Physical Examination Form for Foreigners” filled in Chinese or in English. Each applicant should take physical examination according to requirements in this form. (The form designed by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded at http://admission.whu.edu.cn/en/?c=content&a=list&catid=81).Physical Examination Form for Foreigners would be invalid in the following situations: some of the items required in the form are missing; there is no photo in the form; there is no seal stamped on the photo; the form is not signed by doctors and sealed by the hospital. In view that the period of validity for the physical examination is 6 months, it’s strongly advised that the applicants should take the physical examination according to the requirement in time. Please keep the original copy of the form for the school registration.
h. HSK certificate (if available).
i. Acceptance letter from the professor of Wuhan University (if available).
a. Incomplete application documents or wrong university code information will not be accepted. Please ensure that an accurate phone number, email address and mailing address (including postcode, city name) are provided.
b. All documents should be submitted in two hard copies by DHL or EMS, as for the highest diploma (degree certificate) and transcripts, one set should be the original notarized document. Each set of documents should be bound in above-mentioned order.
Whether accepted or not, the documents will never give back.
c. In addition to the above application documents, the university has the right to require the applicant to provide other materials if it is necessary.

(6) Submission of application documents:
Send by post to Admission Office, Wuhan University before 30 April 2018 the two forms and other required documents. (Postal address: Admissions Office 1101, School of International Education, Wuhan University, No. 299, Bayi Road, Wuchang Dist., Wuhan, Hubei Province, China 430072; Tel: +86 27 6875 3912)
a. The Scholarship will not be reserved if the recipient cannot register in Wuhan University before the registration deadline (The registration time will be notified on your admission notice).
b. The Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study unless they give up the scholarship.
c. The Scholarship qualification will be evaluated annually.
(7) Selection and Notification
Applicants will be given priority consideration if they graduate from world-renowned universities, or are recommended by senior professors or experts. A panel of experts at Wuhan University will screen applicants for the scholarship and submit a list of nominees to university authorities for approval. Scholarship decisions will be made on the basis of the applicants' application documents, academic performance, overall merits, research achievements and supervisors' comments. The final list of nominees will be submitted to China Scholarship Council for final approval.
The qualified Applicants will be informed of the evaluation result around the middle of May, and the final result of scholarship winners will be informed at the end of June. The official admission document will be delivered from the beginning of July.
